I had a broken bladed kayak paddle and thought make a spare canoe paddle. After I cut the bad blade off I started looking for t-grip options. One tennis ball, gorilla glue, and hole saw later here's what I have. The glue swelled and made the ball hard (what I wanted). When wet it is not slick. Fits in my palm great. The lines on the ball helped for indexing. Used it as my main paddle today worked great.

Nah, those aluminum Hurst T-grips are cold in the winter & heavy all the time. Plus, they only work for lefty's.

You can even squeeze it like a stress ball at the top of really gnarly drops.... Or train your dog to retrieve your paddle after a swim!
