Stonycreek River

Post by ohioboater »

Just heard that Quemahoning dam is going to be releasing 350 cfs for the next couple of weeks for a maintenance drawdown. That should make the Stony Canyon (fun class 3/3+ run with lots of play waves) a lot more likely to have good water in it. 4' on the Ferndale gauge is a nice open boat level.

There's also a play park in Greenhouse Park that I assume was built to take advantage of small releases like this.

This is Johnstown, PA, BTW.

StoneyCreek is great - the wave a the park is awesome - I was surfing there at 2am under lights at StoneyFest this past May, having a great time...

And just this past week - I was out there generating new interest in the sport...

More chicks with sticks is definitely great for the sport. As seen in the background of the second pic......I see that you have already taught them that open boaters just let it go in the river.

You're on to something, here, DR. . .

How about a t-shirt with this slogan -- give one out to anyone of the fairer pursuasion who gets into a boat for the first time. . . :P

I like the idea - we need new slogan though - 'chicks with sticks' is misleading...

How's about...."more Chicks - holding on to sticks!"

Does the girl in the first photo have anything on downstairs? You may have hit a new high mark in FULLGNARLZDOM depending upon your answer.
