From the not so frozen tundra of Wisconsin's northwoods I would like to wish one and all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy Canoe Year! Up until a few weeks ago I was starting to think I had stored the boats too quickly as the rivers were still open. Now the ice shelves are "growing" from each bank and the flat water sections are frozen over....so... unless I relocate to Asheville, Knoxville or ? it will be twelve weeks of paddle porn video watching untill the rivers here open up.
Each year at this time I like to think back on some of the different paddle experiences that occurred during the past season. Fellow paddlers that you were introduced to for the first time (you know who you are), some P.F.D.'s of rivers that I ran and of course the joys of watching our sport move forward with the addition of some dynamic and exciting new canoe designs being offered now and in the near future (thank you Craig, actually 2010, and Jeremy)for all the Ledges, Ions and Options skimming from eddy to eddy and boofing off the lips of creeks everywhere. Can't wait to see what evolves next season. I hear Richard has some new irons in the fire (Mohawk)as well.....thanks to all of you for your insight and determination in helping to keep our one blade sport afloat!
Merry Christmas from "the Boathead"

Happy Kwanza from the yankees in Pennsyltucky
2011 was a great year for canoeing. Here's hoping that 2012 is even better, and we ride into this apocalypse in style.
Stay safe y'all

Merry xmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa...river gods...whatever you believe in (or even if its nothing) enjoy the holiday, and here's even more paddling in 2012! It's been a great year, and I hope to build on it for the next.
