Yeah, its not Cboat related in the pure sense, BUT you use the same C strokes while SUPing.. for those that haven't tried it, you'd be surprised at how good you already are. Check this little article I wrote about when I built my own.. http://ogdenoutdooradventure.com/2012/0 ... board-sup/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I once paddled one, I don't have the balance; And standing up is a suprisingly long way to deck it from.

I tried it once in whitewater and kinda failed to see the appeal of it. One seems to spend most of the time bracing, kneeling down or falling off. Even most of the Pro's (Dan Gravere, Corran) seem to do that. If I feel for a day with lots of swimming, I'll rather get myself a riverboard.
Surfing waves is different though, I could see myself doing that, if I lived near the ocean.
But good on you Smurf, looks like you are having fun.
TGG!

Nice job Smurf. I tried it once, a rental on vacation. I thought that I could apply my snowboarding experience to it...not even close. To me anyway, the complete lack of final stability was a fatal flaw. Frustrated, desperate and cheap enough to always try to get my money's worth out of something no matter how badly I screwed up, I resorted to kneeling. At that point I had a blast playing in the surf even though the paddle was now way too long.
If I got one, I'd seriously consider glueing or velcroing a foam saddle and knee pads on it. Anyone else tried that? Umm..from SUP to KUP?
A friend of mine built his own stand up canoe and ordered 6' Iliad paddles back in the day, and has been paddling it or its replacement for more than 25 yrs. He had bad knees from ice skating but didn't want to go to the dark side. He got pretty good in it and was doing cl4+ regularly. He doesn't get out that much now (arthritis) but I see him out there now and then. His boat reminds me of a very large Blackfly Ion
