I had a Great time time in the Octane 91 Yesterday on the Tellico Ledges, This boat as a solo has a Pretty big footprint on the water, I think this boat as a solo will appeal to the folks coming out of royalex Vipers and Ocoees, It is so very stable, several times during the run i was able to sit on the rear thwart comfortably and paddle without fear of tipping over. It has Plenty of edge for carving into eddies and the speed seems equal to if not slightly faster than My L'edge, boofs like a dream with stable controlled landings, And is the Driest Open Canoe I've ever paddled, (a Title which I formally awarded my L'edge). The Octane Tracks Pretty well for a 8'-10" Boat , and Is quite nimble despite it cumbersome appearance. In the Hole surfing the octane with it's super flat planing Hull, maintains many of the Traits of its little brother the ion, It side surf back surfs and flat spins360's like it's on auto pilot. Weight ? I weighed both boats side by side yesterday on a scale, the Octane with Pump, Battery and air bags (60") weighed in at 64.4 Compared to 68.2 For the L'edge with Pump, Battery and 48" airbags. As a reference I Weigh about 234 lbs right now

Very cool video of the new Blackfly Octane! I think the big boys now have the PE boat they've been waiting for. Can't wait for the companion video showing a tandem team putting the OC2 version through its paces.

I had the pleasure of paddling the tandem octane on the middle tellico.

I'm 240lbs and she's .....well tiney.(small adult)

Floated us very well very, dry, maneuverable and all the get-up-and-go we needed. Great boat to introduce first timers to creaking and cant wait to have her get first spins if we ever get one on a river she's comfortable in.

And when she decided the next drop was to sketchy for her (no time in bulkhead and was nervous swimming out first time). The boat was easily paddled solo and such a hoot)

Sadly no time for the solo, but hope to try one soon.

Here's the Vimeo link to the tandem run off of LeMance Falls. Paddlers: markzak and rodeoclown

Blackfly Canoes is working on an OCtane Edit to highlight the boat as we put it through its paces at ALF. Almost needless to say that the OCtane 92 (tandem) is a total game-changer that will make you re-think what you thought was possible in a tandem canoe. Rodeoclown took 3rd in the Tellico Race in the OCtane 91 (solo).

A lot of people also owe me beer for ferrying them around the river in the OCtane 92 to get their boat/gear after swimming out of their own boats. The tandem makes a great "rescue" vessel.
