What do you think about pumps being allowed in Open-boat racing

It is an absolute travesty.

Rules rule!

Pumps suck!

Hey, isn't a Rule a type of pump?

I agree with McG about what's the honourable thing to do for an OC race of any kind, but I also agree with Richard that if I were the organizer I wouldn't bother taking on the actual management of an actual rule.

Whatever, I just hope that I paddle 7 days this year.

What all of you guys a are not thinking about:

I do not take entry fees
I do all the organizing on my time and my dime.
Mohawk is just the sponsor It is my race.
and the most important thing

the word race is very very loosely used.

RACE stand for RALLY AGAINST CUMBERLAND EXPLOITATION.

If you don't like the way the race is ran DON'T COME.
If no one "raced" then I would get to boat. For the three years this race has went on I have only got to boat 2 days during ALF my other off day is used to host this race.

Richard, I wasn't even there and I appreciate your efforts and dedication to the race and sport. But I don't think this thread is about that at all. It's just a discussion about what's fair in OC whitewater racing. From what I saw of the footage, everyone looked like they had a great time at the race and that's what counts most.

I dint think pumps should be allowed in any sanctioned race. If it is a real race with prizes and points for a series then no pumps if it is like the Tellico WHO CARES

those before us - watching from afar - would be shakin their heads and rolling in their graves.

those after us - that look to us for answers... we'll just tell them... dont look for answers at the biggest mass start OC1 WW race in the world

...just giving a hard time - dont take it too seriously. Open-Boat world is grateful for ALF and Tellico race each year they happen. I'm already counting down the days...............and working on my new 8 pump system

OK , it's agreed. no pumps. no Ions, no ledges, minimum 14 ft shallow V hull no bags, with dual coolers, one handed strokes only with beer in other hand?
