Does anybody have experience with this outfitting. Worth forking out the 300$ ? pro's con's

Ive outfitted three C1's before. and they have all turned out just okay, and Ive always had to continually be fixing them up.
looking for something safe, very sturdy and easily adjusted and versatile.

I'm a barking up the wrong tree? or is this a worthwhile investment.

Speaking of the Jackson c1 outfitting I got in there new zen with that set up just the other day. It bolts into any Jackson boat with ease but when it comes to putting it in other boats besides Jackson I am not sure how it would work. Every outfitting need tweaking but as a base it works well. The saddle was a little low for my tastes but very comfortable. The thigh straps system was very secure connecting with d rings between the thighs to the center wall that comes with the kit and then attaches at d rings beside the upper thigh. The thing that worried me about the thigh straps was that it was Velcro, but I worry no more. There are not any pegs or toe blocks in the kit but would be easy to add to any boat. When comes to the back band I was not so thrilled with how it preformed. The way the the back band attaches is hard to explain. From the center wall a thin flexible pice of plastic goes up and connects to, what looks like a kayak back band. Small para cord extends to both sides of the boat to hold back band in place. There Is one more para cord line on each side going forward that you can pull to tighten up the back band and makes you fell secure in the boat. The only problem I had with the hole set up was the back band, it did not seem to want to stay in place when i had to lean forward for a low brace, it wanted to slide forward which becomes a problem when trying to roll. I think that this problem could be fixed easily with a little bit of dragon skin to lower the saddle for myself.

I do not know if this can be under stood or not. Any further questions fell free to ask, I will try and answer.

some tweaking is still required, would you recommend it despite your reservations ?

I could see it being a worthwhile investment only if you had several jackson boats you wanted to use it in, or if you were buying a new jackson and got the C1 outfitting instead of K1. Personally, $250 seems a little steep for something that will only work in jackson boats. But, if you have a hand full of jacksons, it could be nice to have one C1 setup for all of them.

I am talking with a local Jackson dealer that also sponsors our hometown throwdowns. We are hoping we will be able to get a Star with the C1 outfitting for people to try. If that happens, I will try to collect feedback from the OC and C-1 paddlers there about it. We definitely have at least one guy who C1's in this area that can throw down some moves. Unfortunately it porbably won't be for another 2 months before the hometown throwdowns start, and then it will depend on if they can score a demo temporarily from Jackson.

Unfortunately, my timing on getting my eardrum fixed couldn't have been worse... Same thing happened when I had surgery on it last November, and that didn't even take, so we had to try again. I have been watching from the sidelines this week. To add insult to injury, it's Spring Break here, so everyone is gone, and it pretty much feels like going into work on a weekend every day. I am planning lots of trips to the Ocoee this summer as bargaining.

It's the same backband as the kayaks, if you feel it's sliding in the grips you can adapt it to use ratchets, or (much easier) remove the original paracord and replace it with slightly thicker tat-cord so it bites into the cleats better; I know a lot of the jackson paddlers round me do this from stock.

The outfitting does still need tweaking. If you did have 3 or 4 Jackson boats it would be great.

I think that I paddled the smaller of the two zen's that just came out. With that outfitting that boat was nice as a c1. I would want the bigger of the two boat if I was going to go buy a new Jackson boat, but then I think, I'm not going to do that . Would be a great creek boat! The boat had sharp chines like the blunt. All And all looked like a good boat.

O ya, I am 6'. And 175.. And was tight in the smaller of the zen boats. I want more volume!!
