This message is for Hans since we can't seem to connect with private messages (anyone else having problems with that since the last time cboats when offline?)
North Umpqua is a bit on the high side right now, so it's apt to be pushy. Optimal flow for the Horseshoe to Gravel Bin run, the best stretch, is around 900 to 1200. Higher than that, Pinball might be considered a class 4. The stretch ends with some excellent surfing opportunities. The Boulder Flat to Horseshoe is also a good run, mostly class 2+ but action packed. The Susan Creek section has four excellent rapids but is less interesting except for those rapids. Those four rapids might be too interesting at the current level (~2000 cfs).
If you don't have the book Soggy Sneakers, it's a great guide to Oregon rivers. I also have some videos of fall, lower water runs, of the the North Umpqua on Youtube, which perhaps you've seen.
