Gauley Fest -- Sept 14-16 -- Who's running what and when

Post by arhdc »

Ok, this may be too much planning and a lot of it has already gone down but I thought that it was worth putting up here for the non-facebook enabled. We single bladers need to stick together, we are more powerful in numbers.

Shout out, who is running what and when. Also, who is camping where and when are you arriving. If you don't want to share or are totally uncertain that is ok too.

Please note that as a newbie I am not qualified to orginize anything and this ain't an attempt to be the leader.

Upper Yough Friday, I don't know when but I do know there will be a lot of open boaters there. And probably a lot of carnage too.

Lower Gauley Saturday - Again, I don't know when, but I fully expect there to be a number of us.

Sunday - I don't know. Valley Falls, the Loop, UG/LG, New are all options

Those are my plans. I'm sure there will be a contingent of open boaters running the UG saturday, there usually is.

And I'm camped at the Festival, with a big bottle of whiskey

I'm planning on a LY loop run Friday, then rendezvous with the UY crowd to caravan to Summersville Fri afternoon, evening.

Hoping to glom onto the LG group Saturday for my 1st ever LG run. Should be entertaining (for them) :o .

Sunday, head home, but maybe stop at Valley Falls (at Cheeks' suggestion)

Possibly Friday on the UY
Saturday on the LG
Sunday - drive back with possible stop at Valley Falls for my first descent (how is it I have never done the VF?)

If you run with us on Saturday on the LG, you should camp with us at the campground on Friday night--see Mr. T (fool!) Grips' post on Campground reservations.

Possibly Friday on the UY
Definite Saturday on the LG with the pod.
Possible Sunday - Valley Falls – Al’s driving so it’s up to him. It could be good fun to toss ropes at Jay “Not Elvis” – needed or not!

Woohoo! I survived. Thanks to the great group that camped, cooked, shuttled, paddled, and shared this weekend. Great to put faces to the names from cyberspace. 8) - Kevin O

was well worth it to hear that masive boof in Upper Mash, if Mark was there with his camera, you'd be Mr. September.
another thanks to Paul and bob for directing the cats to the put-in. (I always get turned around in there)

Thanks to PAC, Mick, Joe, Parris, Keven, Chris, Nathan, Bob, J, Big Al, Tony, Chris and David for a great day on the LG (if I missed you it is an accidental oversight).

We came, we swam (some of us anyway) and we all had a great time. Looking forward to the hockey stick cam footage of Cheeks hades Hole run.
