Hello,
Looking to pick up an ocoee. I see that Nova Craft has brought it back with some tweeks they say. Wondering how the nova craft design compares to the dagger design.
There is only one for sale locally (Ontario) and the price is high. Any others out there?
Thanks,
Mike

The Novacraft version is noticeably narrower than the original, something easily changed if desired. The price has gone up $100 on a new one since the Royalex announcement. I kinda kick myself for not buying one when they were on sale in the summer...

I have had two Dagger Ocoees and one Bell Ocoee and this past summer purchased a NovaCraft Ocoee from Appomattox. I haven't outfitted it yet as my plan was to let it "cure" for a while before beating it on rocks (I'm getting pretty itchy). What I can say so far is that the Royalex in the boat appears to be stronger (less flexible) than the Bell and the gunnels certainly are a lot stiffer. The boat is much narrower than the original "Frankie" design. The mythology surrounding the origin of the NovaCraft iteration is that they made the mold from a Dagger boat that had been narrowed for racing. I had pinched my Dagger Ocoees two inches so I don't think I will notice the decreased width in the NovaCraft version. I purchased a bulkhead saddle from Jeremy to go in it and the folks at Appomattox were very helpful in helping me locate the position for the saddle.
