Portage wheels for my Ledge

I've developed a herniated cervical disc last summer so I think the days of carrying my Ledge on my head are over. I'm looking for a small light weight set of wheels that I can move the boat on, but them stuff in the boat somehow to paddle. Mostly for park and play laps but also to get the the boat to and from the river on straight forward dirt roads. All the stuff I've seen online is way too bulky. Anyone try anything like this?

A skateboard and some straps? I'm not quite joking on that ...

Not quite what you are looking for, but it might help... I made a backpack thing that attaches to a thwart out of an old canoe tripping barrel harness. Nice thing about it is that it fits just like a hiking backpack, transferring almost all of the weight to my hips.

Carried my boat for over an hour, roughly 5km no problem this way.

Let me dig through my garage this weekend...might have just what you need :D
I think I still have a lightweight aluminum frame with quick release wheels that can pack into a smaller drybag. I don't have a picture...maybe PAC might have one? as he has a couple of the ones I made for the boy scouts to use.

I use a cart from Seattle Sports (http://www.seattlesportsco.com/productc ... ategory=75" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;) which looks like a standard canoe cart, but the wheels come off and the frame breaks down. It can go under the air bags of my Option. Maybe a little pricey at $100, but convenient.

You could carry the boat on your shoulder. You won't turn as many heads as you would dragging one of those little carts though

Thanks for the great ideas. I might play a bit with the pack back frame idea. The right setup could be cushy! I played around in the garage with a skateboard a little last fall, and it has possibilities. I've never mastered the shoulder carry but perhaps a block of foam glued on at just the right place could make it almost a hands free carry. The production carts would surely work and might be the best for my neck. Might be time for a boat from Kaz and just deal with the repairs as they come.

Hazard Harry, that carts perfect. If I had one in carbon fiber that folded flat, I'd be golden! If you want to part with it let me know.

Mikey B's carts that he fabbed up for me to help some smaller scouts "carry" OC2 & C2s to the river.
