I've had good luck with the Galasport aluminum tips. Yes, they eventually wear away and delaminate, but it takes a long time, and they are repairable. I use the Carbon/Kevlar shaft and blade for a little more flex and resistance to catastrophic failure.

I just ordered a Fritz Orr paddle after visiting his shop about 20 minutes from my house. Great experience.

I've never had an aluminum tip delaminate from the carbon fiber skin on one of my Zap Paddles. Mat Toddhunter has been using his hard on creeking water for 4 or so years w/o that being a problem. The trick is in the preparation of the aluminum and what the aluminum is adhered with. Just sold a couple at ALF: one to Trey Cambern and one to Ed Powers. Both aggressive paddlers. Shawn Malone, Alex Vargas and Bob Britt all held the paddles and were much impressed with them.
