Any C1 squirt advice?
Halls of Karma, Cats Pajamas anything?
Mike Watson I can't tell if the boat is curved to one side in the video, but I've never seen anything else w/ a rim shaped like that. The white deck hides the curves.
i think its a Maven
how many 02's are out there?
Would u suggest a backband?
It's not a Maven. I had use of Maven #1 for a while. That was a very narrow & low volume boat w/ a built up turret around the paddler. https://cboats.net/c_db/list.php?alpha=M&boat_id=116.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
im pretty sure its not an O2.......
mine looks really unique
next to my Acrobat
Mike Watson After looking at the Oxygen, you're right, it's not one. According to C-Boats, 11 have been made: https://cboats.net/c_db/list.php?alpha=O&page=2.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
can u post the 02 photos from c-forum?
i cant get them to open

thanks, i have seen those, they are a few in the "armada" shots i cant get to open..says 2 side by side
where is the maven mold?
i wish i still had the 91 Ocoee Rodeo on vhs, it had a bunch of squirt c1
Adam has the Maven mold in NY. I think 4 were built. The consensus was that it was too narrow. He then designed the Mentor. https://fbcdn-sphotos-f-a.akamaihd.net/.../216782.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
nice...i need to drop a ton of weight 4 this boat and others
Left to right, top to bottom: Woodie, Mentor, Mentor, Full cut Acrobat, Master cut Acrobat: https://fbcdn-sphotos-h-a.akamaihd.net/.../281892.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
who has the Mentor plug?
Adam has the Mentor plug & mold also. The two in the photo above are the only two that have been built.
prob with my squirting, i broke my leg in 2003, then had 2 back operations in 2005/206, i had quit boating, then in 2009 made a major comeback.....it hurts beyond belief to paddle c1, yet if u keep doing it, either u get used to it, or it hurts less......See More
wonder how much he would build a boat 4?
and im fat
At 190ish I was having a ball in the master cut Acro. Problem was that tiny cockpit. I was about to open it up when I bought the Woodie. Also at 190, the Ceamweaver felt good.
i used to videoboat outta my Fanatic, and when the New was @ 0 or so, the Acrobat....

its frustrating, last fall, i swam outta my Slasher @ Fayette station, lost my shorts
Look at the hulls. There is a huge difference between the Ceamweaver & Mentor hulls. Check w/ Jim if you want a Ceamweaver. Go to C-Boats & PM Sir Adam if you want a Mentor. The Maven was less stable than my master cut Acrobat & didn't cartwheel. Sinkability was about the same.
Not that I am an expert at c-squirt at all, I am just having fun playing around in my Ceemweaver, but I think that the problem that found inherent to all the C-sqirts that I was able to squeeze myself into is that fact that, due to the kneeling positio...See More
Martin is 100% right- think of a squirt kayak and think of it as a baby lifejacket you are wearing- with a C-1- there's a LOT more lifejacket next to your hips. I think a credible attempt could be made along the lines Ian suggested- run the volume...See More
I was thinking of the kneel on top- problem is the disruption in flow when you get rid of the hydrodynamic deck and skirt.
^whaah waah waah!
And Kirby Erdely tore it up in those days in a C1.....
A few thoughts on c1 sinking while waiting in a ridiculously long line to get a rental car....a c1 needs to be extremely low cut to get a significant mass of the paddler below the waterline. As in a kayak, lower cuts create stability because the boat w...See More
Dirk Young had c-1 mysteries mastered in a custom Acrobat . This was the 90's when we we're squirting bigfoots, and shreds. The DT wasn't huge by todays standard, but still respectable DT. Desire, Charc, a good seam, and a well chopped boat = zombie playground.
I have seen a head dunked in a relatively large acrobat, and full immersion in O2 at Cowbell. Both of these were a while back - 90s. Can't remember the particulars. I tried the Acro for a few minutes and didn't like the inability to focus my mass in...See More
I've gone under a few times, but they were rare. And, I had a very small boat. So, like 1991 World Champion Kirby says,, get one really really really small.
i though tcowbell was shot?
cowbell
I think Jim Gross was on to something w/ the design of the Woodie. There's just too much volume in the turret. The decks are completely concave. The bow is at the surface & the turret is out of the water. Here's a comparison between the Woodie & my old master cut Acrobat: https://www.facebook.com/mike.watson.1447/media_set.." onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;.
cowbell is back. jaws is also the best it's been in 20 years if you're into blasting.
what is a good minimum for the new Jaws?
I haven't explored that yet, but I hear it's pretty low - like the olden days. I would say the current 1100ish base flow should be fine.
let's explore
yeah, but.....it's supposed to rain tomorrow. Creekin' time this weekend, maybe sinkin' time next week if it's warm?
It would take the right design and a old school high energy spot like Flipper/Torpedo on the Ocoee. I also think it would be very hard to keep a boat submerged with one blade/hand... It is hard enough with two blades/hand paddles where you are going from one side to the other with each spin... Chris was the best I have seen back in the daze...
Great topic!!!
what was George Garret paddling back in the day? spider webbed deck art?

The Departure.

Fred Davis KUDOS to all the free thinkers on CHARC!!! Like the hip pad set up which would be mandatory. Wondering if a self bailing version would be possible?
Tom Visnius Maybe the Hirshey Squirt, B A? Built 1987. As an open boat, there is the little bit in the knee and heel wells. Bottom left corner of this page: http://www.dusurf.com/vysniacraft" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
subtaler subluxion--a little squirting in the Urge
Christine Blumberg My ankles were killing me--gotta build back up tolerance...
Time to find some deeper water and bring out the Maestro....
Noah Fraser Put foam under your knees, I found that relieved the ankle pressure in my Urge.
