Need advice C1 Jackson fun or 4 fun?

Post by dlmlmm »

I am 158 lbs, 5 ft 6", 44 yrs old, I like long walks on the beach. Just kidding. I want a light c1 good for river running up to class3, and the occasional surf. Other boats I am considering is the jackson fun runner 60 or 70 or the Zen 65. Important points are river running and light weight. I am new to c1 but have lots of kayak experience.

Convert a Jackson Zen. A c-1 needs some speed that a Fun can't give.

I'm not a C1-er, and I could be wrong but I would think about getting the Zen 75 rather than the Zen 65 because you are at the lower end of the Zen 75 weight range, and the 75 might be wider and more stable. The C1 tends to be really tippy because you are sitting up higher. FWIW I have seen posts talking up Star conversions.
