How much is a Whitesell Piranha in excellent shape worth?

I'm buying it from a friend and there is not a soft spot anywhere on the hull. One repair under the front of the saddle that is bomber, no airbags, Perception saddle in great shape. I realize that very few people paddle such a long boat any more, but figured this one will make a super tandem to take my daughters out in.

Somewhat difficult question to answer............
Bought mine for $300.00, and considered myself "extremely" lucky.I would have given $550.00 for it & never given it another minutes thought. Didn't even try to bargain with owner.

Boat was in like new condition; had been used twice. Owner quickly figured out he was over his head on whitewater. Boat spent many years in dry, UV protected storage. Owner wanted to "get rid of it"; had no intention of ever using it again, and needed space in storage shed.

So did I get the boat for $300.00?
Actually not; the way I figure it.
Round trip gas cost for trip to pick up canoe was about $50.00
Mice had ruined original air bags & lace kit; replacement cost was about $125.00.
I figure my real/total cost for a like new Piranha, fully outfitted: $475.00
I think I got a hades of a deal, all things considered.

Based on description of the one you're looking at; I would definitely NOT pay $475.00 for it.
Remember........."final" price is the "real" price you pay.
You'll have to do some re outfitting(saddles/airbags/thigh straps)to set it up as a tandem...........$$$$$

No doubt it could be used as a tandem; seen it done with 2 adults.
No doubt Whitesells are well built, and will take a lot of abuse.
No doubt it's a heavy boat.

Good luck,
BOB

Old school royalex boats in good condition are worth $3-400. Bad condition - $200. Terrible condition - a 12 pack.
