I paddled yesterday with a great group of folks from Oak Ridge. More than a couple upon seeing my long, slow exists said that did not see how I did it. Then there was the rafts where the riders asked the guide what I was paddling. I could see either the respect in the look of the guide as he threw up his hand in a friendly gesture.
While I soon recover, I am slow to get out of the boat. Perhaps I should go back to the open canoe. I know there would be less pain.
I am well aware that I carry a bit of pride using a single blade. It forces me to think differently, as you all know , regarding how you chose to sit up a run. In many ways it is worth the pain.

Canoes do enforce a certain discipline. In the tough cases brute force will not suffice-how you read water, approach an obstacle, even how you learn to avoid the problems and utilize the strengths of the kneel all become important.
