Has anyone seen, touched or paddled a canoe yet made of t-formex? As I recall, Esquif was going to have some prototypes last July for the outdoor show. I don't think I've heard anything since June about the new material. Hopefully it's working out and in production.

There might be an oxen drawn wagon making its way slowly across the plains, loaded with t-formex boats for the Portland market.

Or, maybe not. 8)

I heard the material didn't quite live up to the hype. - M-

Was able to talk with the same guy today on the river. Rumor has it that Mohawk tried making a few 12 ft. Boats out of the stuff and it was a failure. But that's just what I heard."Don't get me to lyin'"-M- 8)

Richard- he's definitely not from Mohawk. Just a guy who keeps up to date on these things. Or at least up to date on the rumors of such things. Can you blame us? We all want to know what's going on in ya'lls back room.-M- :D

How about an update then on t-fromex and the blow molding process? I'm sure others would be appreciative too.
Thx

Everyone's focus here seems to be cyclical with whatever is the latest and greatest.

Look back a few years and you'll see LOTS of posts about the Maxam (and quite a few questions on the Phiend too;) ).

Then there was the L'Edge and L'Edge Lite... a few hundred posts there too:)

Jeremy's been doing a great job with new designs and improvements. I give him credit for being the one man shop he is and starting a new company. Not easy for sure!

I'll ALSO give credit to both Esquif and Mohawk for being around for quite some time, innovating, and even sponsoring our humble site:)

Next year should be an interesting year innovation wise - perhaps material wise vs. design wise this time around. May not seem as exciting, but it is critical for the future.

And since I'm talking about boats I'd be VERY remiss not to mention Millbrook as a company that has come up with quite a few new designs lately and has been a consistent supporter and member of CBoats.net over the years.

Let's hope River Elf, and the newer folks make a go of it as well.

Lastly, props to Richard for setting the record straight.

The number of innovators and manufacturers has become so small that you kinda really want them to make a buck, enough to succeed and to keep us on the rivers.
In a sense we are beta testers, sharing some of the risk.

Why should it be a secret that there is still no viable replacement for Royalex?

I prefer all the worms OUT of the can, but proper attributed to where they came, actually;)

I'm hoping when the time is right Jacques or someone from Esquif will post an update, and likewise as "that boat that shall not be named" moves ahead with Mohawk that Richard lets us know how it's going.

As Red Green says..."We're all in this together... I'm pulling for you"....

I'm rooting for all these guys ,too! My other boat is a Probe 14. It seems to me the formula is pretty simple. Build a kicka** boat, put it in the hands of great boaters, video them having fun, post it up , and sell a bunch of boats! Not rocket surgery, boys.-M- :D
