My prediction has been it will hold up for lake or flat water canoes , but unfortunately not for whitewater canoes. But I truly hope I'm wrong. Anyway, That's the word I've heard.
If anyone has better info, please share. Cheers

If someone credible has told you about durability, couldn't you just ask them when the material will be released???

Several things I've learned while riding this rock around the sun -
1. making new stuff is hard
2. making stuff consistently in large quantities can be really, really hard
3. people (myself especially) are really impatient

Of course, no one ever had a problem with Royalex.

And it is so light and stiff.

Esquif did this already in their press release.
Impatience? Not at all. Read the first sentence if their press release .
". Esquif is now producing T-formex as an evaluation to Royalex ." Great . That
Was in October .
I suppose the problem is in manufactures claiming a new boat model they never produce, or A new material that baits the public, but some how really isn't in production as
Indicated, it jacks the paddling public around.
Speaking of jacked around, they did approach several mfg's to prepay for sheets of this new material
Last yr. If that were me and had money tied up in it. then excuses for production problems began , And no eta when the Sheets would even arrive, Someone's head would be rolling.
Maybe I'm cranky, just don't send out press releases that a material is. "in production and better
And stronger than royalex ". when it isn't yet.
I fear the press release was a primer just to motivate investment to offset R and D expense .
If I'm wrong. I beg everyone's. pardon.

Evaluation means Testing
I don't interpret the quote as saying that the material is ready...

Bad typing on my part. The quote reads
". Esquif canoes is now producing t-formex as the
EVOLUTION of Royalex. ". Not evaluation .
Ok DougB , I'm over being cranky, but everything I
Said still stands on its own.

I think some things could have been lost in translation but ultimately it states availability in the 2015 season - a year that has only just begun.
A press release for a new canoe material is no different than a car manufacturer advertising their next model changes well before they arrive in showrooms. It's just advertising.
As for production problems and approaching other manufactures, why would you even concern yourself with these things?
At the end of the day you're free to buy a canoe from whomever you choose while I patiently await T formex!

I'd like to know why you don't think it isn't being tested right now. Perhaps not in Esquif's home country (where let's be honest, a lot of the water is a bit solid right now:) ), but somewhere.
I've long been impressed by how Jacques Chasse runs the business, and suspect when the time is right we'll hear more.
Until then it's all just speculation on both our parts!

The bench vise comparison with an aramid layup is impressive.

Hey, I hope t formex is the greatest stuff ever.
I just thought "in production " actually ment
"In production"
Instead of not until all the bugs have been worked
Out. That's all.
