Conversion ?? for a Jackson Fun.

I'm converting a Jackson Kayak to C-1. So far all is well. I have two questions. Should the trim be neutral, fore or aft for a boat that will be mostly used as a playboat with some river running? And, any tips on building a bulkhead? The boat feels good either neutral or a little forward. The problem I've had with bulkheads is that they end up looking sloppy...any suggestions to help prevent this would be greatly appreciated.

I like neutral trim. Then you can lean forward or back to change the trim.
The key to outfitting is a good fit, comfy, easy and safe exit. Looks is pretty low on my list of priorities.

Thanks...after the initial rough outfitting, the boat feels right in neutral. Totally agree about looks...it's not a beauty contest. I was wondering if there's a way to make/install a bulkhead in a very small boat without; using multiple pcs of foam, a lot of trial and error, a lot of cutting & shaping(?). That's what I've done in the past & I've always said; "There's got to be a better way". Cheers!

Let's hope someone else chimes in with a response.
You could also repost with a title along the line of, conversion bulkhead.

Start w/ a piece of cardboard to make a template for your bulkhead. The main goals are to keep your knees spread & down. If you cut too much, just tape some more cardboard on. I like a force-fit bulkhead. This allows me to pull it out to access lunch. Make it a little too big, so when you shove it in, it won't come out on the interstate. It'll compress some over time too. Take a look at this Forplay that I did:

Here's another one in a Big EZ:

Thanks...template worked wonders...much cleaner/quicker than past jobs.
