I have a system in place to attach an electric pump to the back of the saddle in the Octane 85 using a bungee through the drain holes. The pump is attached to the battery, with the only space available for it being behind the saddle. The problem is when airbag is fully inflated it doesn't leave much room around it and slows the outflow. I am thinking maybe some kind of collander or wire strainer around the pump could solve the problem I am but looking for other ideas. I will not cut into the saddle as doing so will weaken the boat at critical stress points, nor do I want to install it in front of the saddle where I would have the same problem. I'm sure others must have encountered this issue.

Try a simple solution of adding some webbing loops to the corner of the bags, and then using a string to tie those two corners together. This is a similar design to Shawn's bags at Fallline canoes - where he sews webbing directly on them.

I make a mini cell basket if loops and tying corners is not sufficient. solid top over pump with stern piece of foam glued to it in vertical position. Also pump placed more on onside.

It works better in front of the saddle. oh yeah.... No pumps

I had that problem, too. I made three little minicell blocks and glued them in around the pump. That kept the airbag away.
