Been out of boating for about 10 years and was wanting to get back into it this spring. What is the best boat to buy? I paddled mainly class 3 with a few easy 4s. I'm
5 10 and 240 lbs. Thanks for any help

Open or decked, and what type of paddling (you mentioned river class... but do you mostly play, creek, cruise, trip, etc...?)

Blackfly Octane 91. Maybe an Esquif L'Edge Lite.

I find many of the exciting new boats don't carry weight too well for those of us north of 200 lbs.

What's the weight limit on the octane 91?

Glad you are back boating! It is sold as a tandem too so it handles up to 380 or so pounds. The 91 is a very fun boat. Once you adjusted to being in a shorter boat you would really like it. I live in Western NC now instead of Birmingham if you ever want to paddle up here.
