Do I need a custom skirt?

Hi Folks,
My old Mountain Surf skirt finally bit the dust. Of course this happened right as the rivers are finally up after a year of drought . . .
I just drove the local paddling store, and the best whitewater skirt they had, a Bomber Gear skirt of some kind, definitely did not fit my Prijon Pure XL -- the tunnel was way too far back.
Question: is it worth taking the extra time to order a custom skirt, with the tunnel moved forward? My old skirt was just a regular kayak skirt, and that fit fine, but I'm not sure about new skirts.
Does anyone have any opinions on the made-as-K1 Snapdragons, or Level Six skirts? (Those are the ones some of the other local shops have.)
Thanks,
Alden

You don't need one, but if you have your saddle fairly far forward, you'll probably appreciate one.

I guess what I'm specifically asking is -- does anyone have any experience using any of the Snapdragon skirts -- the EXP, or the Armortex -- or the Level Six skirts on C-1s with normal Dagger pedestal configurations?
Any opinions appreciated.
Thanks,
Alden

I suppose I'd also love to know: What type of skirts are C-1ers using?
Just curious.
Thanks,
Alden

I've got a custom-size Snapdragon River Trek skirt. It's very good overall, but I put on a little Goop to protect the edge where my paddle shaft tends to increase the wear. I would definitely buy another one. My boat has a weird cockpit, so I had to send them a template, but the skirt fits perfectly.

My favorites are old Mountain Surfs or newer Skirt Works.
Yes, I haven't purchased one in a while.
I do have an older Snapdragon that was custom made for the Groove, as well as a slalom skirt or two from them. I've always had a problem with them popping off, so they don't get used much. Not enough "skirt" material I think. Newer ones are likely different... can't say better or worse.

I think I remember that Snapdragon Groove skirt.
Never did stay on great.

You can increase the friction on a plastic rim by the addition of cloth electrical tape.

For the record, I purchased a Snapdragon EXP. Even with the moved-forward seat of my Prijon Pure C-1, it worked great. I'm back on the river!
Thanks for your help, folks.

Have a question regarding what size Snapdragon EXP you're using on the Prijon Pure XL. Thanks.

Mountain Surf on my Cascade, Skirtworks on my Fink, both good skirts.
