Where is the post about pulling in the gunnels on a L’edge

Post by Wodza »

I’m looking for an old post about pulling the gunnels in on a L’edge to make it more snappy. It’s a pretty old post and I’ve tried a few searches to find it but to no avail. Anyone know where it is? I believe it had had comparison photos of one l’edge with pulled in gunnels and one as it came from the factory.

Is it necessary to cut off the deck plates to do this mod?

Pulling in the gunwales on any whitewater canoe reduces the rocker. On a boat like the Ledge, it may help it to track better. You'll still have plenty of rocker. I would remove the thwarts fore and aft of the bulkhead/saddle, cut off 1", only need to cut one side, re-drill and bolt back in. If you don't notice any difference, cut off another inch.
