Hi, I’m newish to whitewater and have never had a whitewater canoe but I’m very into it. I was given a royalex mad river howler that needs a lot of work. The hull is pealing in a number of places does anyone have advice on how to patch it?
Thanks!

pictures look like no more than vinyl skinned off. If that's the case, there is no structural issue, trim off the what's loose and paint the bare abs for uv protection. any spray paint suitable for plastic ok
for structural repairs, I have had best luck using gflex for cracks, pc7 to fill dents under patches, and sheet abs heat formed (oven) if needed and glued on with goop for patches. John

Yes I think it’s just the Vinyl, what kind of spray paint do you recommend? Can that really be as strong as the vinyl?

not as durable as vinyl, but protects from uv and easy to reapply. neither provides strength.
I have been using rustoleum painters tough mostly because it is readily available, inexpensive and comes in colors close to coordinating with boats I have so patchwork not too obvious. any plastic paint will do, and I have used all sorts of spray paint over time, sometimes brush on. John

Thanks everyone! I put on some gflex and painted it and it looks and rides fantastic!
