A group of us in canoes, IKs, kayaks and rafts ran the Yampa and Green through Dinosaur National Monument in April. This was much different than a trip I did several years ago in July when the flow was 400 cfs. On this April trip, we put on at around 5,000 cfs and the river rising. When we ran Warm Springs, class 4, it was booking at 8,000 cfs. When we joined the Green, the combined flow was 13,000. I didn't get much video of the three big class IIIs we ran that day, but there's a great clip of one tandem canoe taking plan B and running the meat of S.O.B. The trip took 6 days and requires a permit--they only let one private party a day launch. It felt like we had the river to ourselves, though we did see one other group. I had forgotten how amazing the canyon is for its beautiful walls and formations. It's one of the most stunning places on earth--a grand canyon unto itself.
The canoes included an Outrage X, two Dagger Legends, and one Dagger Dimension.
