I had about fifty Canadian above a big rapid and as they got out to look I said what are you doin ? they said"scoutin, don't you scout?" I said ",heck no if you scout it you might not run it."

I thought a scout was the boater you send down first to see where the bad lines are.

first boat down a rapid is called a probe not a scout.
