Just a little footage of a buddy and me on the Island surfing. Didn't do much filming when the surf was big:)

Yeah, had to punch your way out for the most part. The first day was huge. I only made it out a few times. Still some great surfs. By day 4 had the area all figured out and new the easy ways out. Waves calmed down a lot by the end of the week. If you time it right, you push your boat under the wave and take the hit with the body. It usually works but on a big wave it back surfs you from time to time.

I suck at C-1ing and I took a playboat out in the surf at Tofino - the most nervous I'd been in a boat!
Not knowing much about the boat and nothing about surfing, the waves, the ocean, etc., there was a million things I was wondering about - Are the waves too big, too small? Am I too deep, too shallow? Am I being pulled too far this way or that? What happens if I swim?
Sure enough, I swam the first time I flipped, because I was wondering whether I'd hit bottom, when the next wave was coming, blah, blah. It was all worth it for a few decent rides though! Ocean surfing is a sure-fire way to improve your combat roll - I had no idea when or how I'd be flipped!
I don't think 'd say this about a river, but I can see how surfing would be more fun with 2 braces and more power! Not like it wasn't fun, it was just different, really different.
Pat.
p.s. Anyone wanna buy a WS Score?

I took a OC1 the first time I went too. It was very frustrating because whenever you'd fill up you'd have to go in and dump. That's one place a skirt is a must. Its funny I don't mind a good beating on he ocean
cause no matter how bad it is you know it will end. On a river you have to keep fighting till your out. Hit the bottom can hurt but not as much as a rocky river.
