Artificial setups would go a long way in attracting people to boating. Unfortunately, if the money hungry corp btards have their way, ala marcellus gas, and small dams, its the only boating areas we'll have available, not raped and pillaged into $s

Never know unless you try. I recently sent a email to all the paddling clubs in my city to see if we could rally support and get a plan together to do something like that. Figured why not give it a shot. :)

I don't know if we have any Texans on here that can speak more directly... From what I've read on the Arkansas Canoe Club board, it sounds like a lot of non-boaters saw this is a tourism/urban renewal issue, and a play wave was a mutually agreeable way to address it. I'm hoping to try it out when I am down in Ft. Worth for a conference in March.
