Perhaps troll was bit harsh, but I definitely don't find this to be a productive line of discussion (particularly in this thread)... Not going to get into a debate that will never be finished.

*edited to make it clear I'm not trying to start an argument*

I do think it performs. In pushy, technical conditions like that I would much rather be in a short, easily maneuvered and rolled boat than a 16' traditional canoe.

That is all.

I'd give money to watch someone run Wilson Creek in a 16 footer.

Doesn't matter Phil's choice of boat--he is in a canoe, single-blading the river. I was more bothered with having to watch those kyackers. :x Having paddled the river myself with "billcanoes" and my buddy Mike (in a 13/2" Whitesell Descender), I personally think Phil did a really nice job with that run. Now, where is the video footage of a 16-foot canoe going down that run? Shoulda been a Grumman running back in the day at some point, eh?

What I do want to know is--who threw up? :o

Was Billy Reap in his boat or behind it? He's had some epic aquatic experiences on that river.

Hey, David. I've encourage Bill to switch his cboats.net moniker to "billswims" but he never took my advice--go figure. He stayed in his boat the whole day. :D

One of my favorite boating moments is from Wilson. An extremely safe boater and I were sitting in an eddy watching Bill negotiate some tight turns. He was dancing and spinning the boat, sometimes forwards, sometimes back, rock dodgin'. The safe boater looks at me and says, "Look at the reaction time on ol' Billy Reap! You can tell he didn't get safe!"
