Yakker from VA intruding...
Need some contact info, moving up to Albany next week. Where is
th 3-4 ckreeky stuff around here? Who to hook up with?

Please help Tim out. I referred him to our site because several of y'all know the area pretty well. Who knows. You just might convert him over to the better side of paddling if you get to hook up with him!

Just watching you cboat and open boat people makes my knees hurt. I will try it one day. Once. And try not to flip, because it would be followed shortly thereafter by a swim. You have such strange rolls

Beware, it is much more addictive than it seems. I know, i used to Yak.

Find a boat you are comfortable(ish) in, learn to roll it first off and you might end up selling a buttboat sooner than you think...

The only time I've been in an open boat was with a class V paddler, and my knuckles were white hanging onto the gunnels. Class 0.5. Give me a 20 foot waterfall in a yak any day.I'm willing to try though...

Yeah, that did not sound like a kind and gentle approach to selling someone on whitewater canoeing--though there are those who would not have it any other way.

Too bad you're leaving the Richmond area. I would have loved to put you in the bow of my slalom c-2 and taken you down some funner stuff.

I don't think you saw the decimal there, ie, ripple. I'll miss the good water around here but look forward what looks like promising stuff up there. I'm sure I'll be back here visiting with my boat shortly. Say hi to Shawn for me.

Lots of creeks and such - check out "New York Exposed: The Whitewater State" by Dennis Squires (Whitewater Outlaw), volumes I and II.

Chasing Rain by our very own Alden Bird also has some info:)

There is a pretty strong ADK paddling group in Schenectady (greater Albany area) that paddles several times a week when anything is running generally - lots of great folks there that can introduce you to like minded paddlers (creeking, bigger water, squirting, CBoating, whatever you like). PM LEW on this site for info.

And let me know when you get up here so we can try and stick you in a few boats;)
