Is a Wavesport Y a good C boat for a 220 lb. paddler?

I'm new to c boating. I've been butt boating for about 7 years.

You know it's an old school boat?
What have you been using for a kayak?
What kind of paddler are you?

I currently paddle a large Jackson Villain on class 4 & 5 creeks. I also have a Perception Corsica that I paddle on the New and Gauley, sometimes with hand paddles. I currently have two Wavesport Big EZ's (K-1 and C-1) for playing. I weigh about 220 lbs. and 5'8" tall. I'm too heavy for my playboats. I want to start paddling C-1 for a challenge when the rivers are low in the Summer, then gradually paddle more challenging water. I'm started to lean towards a playboat instead of a creeker. I have a lot of time K-1 playing on the New and Gauley.

Hi, Paul. The Wavesport "Y" would be a VERY challenging boat to paddle as a c-1 given your weight. For it's kind-of-narrow width, the boat would be very tippy making you work hard to stay upright and needing to rely heavily on a brace to help with balance. Not the best ingredients for developing c-1 skills. Do a search on c-1's for boats in your weight range. That has been on the cboats forum many times. Glad to see you over here asking for help. Hopefully, you will find some useful information. Btw, where about's do you live?

I don't have the stats on hand but compare the Y to the big EZ, like the widths. I think KNeal is right.

I live in Charleston, WV. I paddle with Bernie quite a bit, however, he doesn't have any C-1 boats available. I'm hoping to get a Super EZ in the next month or two. It seems to make sense to look for boats that I would K-1 paddle. I'll patrol used boat forums for a used boat I can convert.

in the WaveSport stable, the Z is a nice conversion for the larger paddler, as is the Score. Been a long time since I saw a Y, though that is one boat I hopped in kneeling over the kayak seat and was able to manage - it might not be terrible after all. I tried a Super EZ and thought it terribly slow...
