Crappy Whitetop Laurel Edit
Its not about the approach. Its about control in the hole.

I would really love to come down that way and paddle that river someday.

Bring bikes and the family to hit the Virginia Creeper trail, too.

It's pretty fantastic. 12 or 6 miles of great III, couple of IVs to keep it interesting. When it's high you can add on Green Cove for some tight IV, there is also a seldom run heavy gnar section right above the standard upper put in at Creek Junction. Easy access and exit with the Creeper Trail. Also a great II-III- section below on Laurel Creek into and down the South Fork of the Holston. I live about 20 min from the takeout, if WTL is running I don't need to go anywhere! I can post visuals if anyone is interested, there are several boaters in Damascus and usually someone is willing to go check.
