Rename the Stinkeye

Post by Mikey B »

OK...so the StinkEye name isn't probably the greatest of names for a boat...appropriate for many of us perhaps, but not all...so after talking with Kaz, am pondering a name change.
Any good ideas?
To make it more interesting, I'm just starting to make up some paddles (and finish some I've started for some folks) so will make a paddle for the person with the winning name. They aren't super spectacular but hey, a freebie is a freebie :D

Thanks,
Mikey B

Mackinac

An Ojibwa Indian word... for the designer's connection to Michigan, and as a reminder that the geological formations paddlers enjoy so much [falls and rapids] are somewhat fragile. See the Wikipedia article linked below:

 Just be glad you aren't the owner of a Millbrook Big Boy.

Sounds like a hamburger chain.

The Fat Boy was renamed the Defiant.

I call my Big Boy the "Edsel" because Kaz had trouble with the mold and may never make another.

But maybe a good name would be Avoirdupois..

As for the Stinkeye, "If thy eye offend thee, pluck it out, lest ye be chundered in a hole until your buddies give up, load up, and go home." :o

Reminds me of a true story.

There was a Junior High School in our town called Anne Stevenson Junior Secondary. Accordingly, the school sold sweat-pants to students with the initials (ASJS) stencilled on the butt.

The School Board reconfigured the schools, and changed ASJS to Anne Stevenson Secondary School. The Board peed itself, fearing the students would be mortified to wear pants with ASSS on the butt.

Turns out they loved it! Sweat pants sales climbed through the roof.

The boat is a Stinkeye. It's a great name -- KEEP IT thus! :P

I could think of a bunch of worse names... But since the term Stinkeye originated with surfers in Hawaii, it is pretty appropriate for a boat...

Helium
It highlights its light weight- Helium (chemical) is very stable- since the USA produces 90% of the helium in the world, it earns its 'made in USA' tag and it fits within the boats Millbrook has made in the past starting with H. Hooter, Howler, Hornet etc..
