Re: Leaking float bag
I always put Aqua Seal around the fill tube and the dump valve on every new set of bags I get before they ever get used. Seemed to me like I would be repairing then all there at some point so I just have done it up front for several years now.

I really like that idea. I find that I get slightly better gas mileage transporting open boats with inflated bags. Have you noticed any improvement in mileage with that system?sbroam wrote:My last couple of sets of float bags were Harmony and the fill tube is near the grommet at the middle of the big end. I made loops of small diameter shock cord to restrain them when in transit.
When I was regularly paddling my Zephyr and leaving the bags in, I took some extra Coroplast I had and made bag protectors :
Overkill? Maybe, but it only takes a minute or two to put them in / out and they don't take up much space.
Where can you get Coroplast?

Re: Leaking float bag
It would be hard to say if I get better mileage - in my truck, I suspect how fast I go is a much stronger variable.
I get Coroplast (and polyethylene and ABS) from a local plastic supplier - for me that is SABIC Polymer Shapes :

I have used Coroplast to make replacements for original cardboard boxes (the handy box that an item comes in but that can't survive long term use), dividers in cargo boxes, new boxes for toting paddles/bows, spreaders for our favorite adhesive, directional signs for events, a "grreen screen", photo back drop, etc. I try to keep a few sheets on hand just in case...
