New Robson OC1 in Armerlite!

Post by the great gonzo »

I just found this on the German Version of the Robson Website:

(translation:)

"New for 2005

Robson Homes

Whitewater Canoe made in new super strong Armerlite Material.
Extremely stable and super light for single bladed paddlers."

Looks similar to a slightly larger Prelude to me.

Okay, sweet! I'll take one now. To whom do I make out the cheque? :)

But seriously, I'm dying to know how much $$$ they want for it. I'm guessing that proprietary miracle materials cost extra, but how much extra?

The "homes"is a Frankie Hubbart Design. It will cost around 2100 € in germany. I've seen and touched rhe boat, incredible solid and light!

Today a Euro costs $1.34 so 2100 Euros would be around $2800. Then add something for shipping from Germany. Yikes. Someone please tell me that I screwed that calculation up.

Robson OC1 US info update

Post by Wendy »

I wrote to Robson asking arrival time for boat in US, cost in US dollars, and does weight include outfitting. Below is the RobsonUSA response:
Dear Wendy,

Hi! The estimated time of arrival for the OC1 in Armerlite is June 2005, for
the US market. Estimated retail $1600 USD. Outfitting included in the price
and weight of course. Happy new year!
Take care and paddle hard,

Well, USD 1600 (should be ~Can$1950) for a fully outfitted boat sounds much better than the initially mentioned Euro 2800, particularly if the material is as good as claimed!

Okay, I'll be saving some dollars and selling some gear just in case this boat looks as good in person as it does in the views we've seen so far.
