C-1 creekers?

Are there any off them out there, travelled UK and France never saw one C - boater creeking.

Am i the only one, I used a converted Dagger Nomad, what does anyone else use?

I use a converted H3, I like it fairly well but my creek paddling is on the lower (III to -IV) end of the scale.

Jay,

I creek in a Nomad 8.5. Used to have a Blunt but cracked the sh$*&@# out of it. I'd say 95% of my paddling is on creeks and steeper rivers, I like it best and just suck at freestyle.

The Nomad is an awesome boat. I like it quite a bit better than the Blunt.
Its fast and super predictable and very stable. Punches way better
than the Blunt.

Most creeking I do is low volume cause thats all we have here. When
it comes to high volume steep, I pee my pants (I'm glad I did not
have to learn C1ing in Norway!).

I have a converted Riot BigGun which I really like. Only thing is it doesn't seem to resurface as predictably as some other boats. But it will do nice enders.

I am planning a trip all over europe with a few kayak creekers, maybe a few first decents in a C1- anyone know what has been done in a C1 or where to get the info?

Quite a few C1 creekers around here in Western North Carolina, Shelton, Scott, Chris Ennis. All of them are badasses too. Well, by quite a few I mean 4 or 5...

oh yeah, and they use Gus's, a Cascade, and I have a Blunt. Marshall paddles a Nomad, and if Harry fields boats anymore he paddles a nomad as well.

Hello Jay,
The Robson Finkenmeister is a very good C1 creek boat

. It was designed as a C1 and does a pretty good job, providing I'm doing my part. It is a huge improvement over a converted kayak I previously used as a creeker

. Before that I used a Dagger Cascade - an excellent C1 creek boat but perhaps a little long by current standards. If you are starting out as a creeker I would try and get my hands on a Finkenmeister or a used Cascade or wait for the Fatboy - something special that Drakkar is putting together. Converted kayaks can be inexpensive, but will always be a compromise.

the stern looks really kind of small (ie a Mutant) on the finkinmeistermisterdoodaddthingboat. do you have any comments on how it performs punching holes when it get's kind of steep? Seems like it'd backender (like the B-lunt).

I have to say that I was really surprised with the Nomad. I liked my Blunt but had certain issues with punching holes and also backendering out of bigger drops. Plus the Blunt was not that predictable when going deep.

The Nomad is awesome in all regards. It handles really well as a C1. And yes, I paddled dedicated C1s as well. It is very stable (26.75'' wide) and very fast.
However, it still snapps into eddies but does not catch. I am still learning this boat, have maybe just over 10 days in it. I kinda have to adjust to the speed it has. Its a lot faster than the Blunt. What I really like is how it resurfaces and how it dives through bigger holes if you go deep. Also the kick in the bow helps when the boof is not super flat (might mean bow deflections though on bigger waterfalls).
The round backdeck does not backender much, I like that.

I've seen others paddle the fikkenmeister and it seems more of a river runner than a creek boat - although i've never tried it. the Nomad was a cheap one froma local shop who were getting rid of it because the rim had broken - I knew someine who could fix it to a high standard for free cos he was mate

- I only spent £250 on the boat, took the kayak stuff out and stored it somewhere - then used minicell foam and a quick release set of straps, including robson paddle, PFD, helmet and spraydeck only about £600 - don't know what that is across the pond but it is good for a 17 year old just starting with a saturday job!

I like the sounds of the Nomad but I have a chance on a CFS. Anyone have an opinion on how the two compare or if the CFS is a good idea in general. Ive never seen one in action as a conversion but only as a kayak. Jan, what do u think?
