Freestyle Technique Development
Can anyone suggest a few technical hints for learning freestyle moves? Like what to learn first, second, etc. I am in the pool now, and it won't be long before the water loosens up in CNY.
you have to be careful though because flatwater cartwheels ARE NOT the same as throwing ends in the hole. if you keep that in mind, you'll be all right because they are good for building balance. The key thing to remember when your in the hole or on a wave is to let the water do most of the work. Make sure you have hippads in your boat. I also think doing moves like zero to heros are good because if you get the feel of going past vertical (upside down in the case of a zero to hero) and then correcting into a vertical end, that helps a lot in the hole. Best thing to do is get in a small feature and just finesse the hades out of it. Try initiating ends and just feel all the different ways the water loading on your hull affects your boat. Then agian, I'm no freestyle guru, those are just some things that seem to help me. Oh yeah, also, keep your weight centered over your boat, and your head ahead of your boat (ie, always let your head lead the rotation and your body and boat follow).
