shipping a canoe

Post by nadeau »

Can anyone provide information about shipping a canoe between private parties and which service/carrier is the best or most reliable?
Thank you,
Marc

I've had good luck with Old Dominion. Dock to dock is the cheapest way to do it. Be sure to put "Fragile" and "Top Load Only" on the package.

I'd second that. Old Dominion is great. I've never had an issue. They even let me unwrap the boat at their loading dock and they dispose of the trash (bubble wrap and cardboard are recommended for protecting the boat in transit).

I used KAS transport to get a canoe from Charlotte to Ogdensburg. Not sure how they compare to Old Dominion price wise, but they did a great job and all they do is move canoes and kayaks around the country.

Here's their e-mail kas@shipyourkayak.com
