Gudday Groove owners...
I'm wondering what spraskirts you're all using on the boat. I have a mountain surf and had the rand replaced on it at the end of last summer. I thought I'd asked for an easy-on (although I can't confirm this), but now I go to use it this spring I find I can't put it on the boat on my own - not even when I'm not IN it! It takes two of us working hard to get it on the boat. Yes, these skirts are dry, but what use is a skirt that you can't put on? I wanted to go checkout a small local playspot today - but couldn't since i had no one to boat with and no way to put the skirt on on my own. Kinda put a major negative into what is otherwise a beautiful day.
Any ideas for other brands of skirt for the Groove, or for stretching this beast out?
Cheers
Matt

Mountain Surf skirts are the best that I've tried. I called & told them which boats I had & they made me a skirt. When it came in it was a perfect fit for the Viper, but wouldn't stay on the Acrobat. I called & was told to return the skirt along with cockpit tracings of both boats. They corrected the fit & sent it back to me.
If you have a really tight skirt try wetting it if you can't get it on. If a skirt hasn't been used in a while it's tough to get on dry. I didn't specify which fit I wanted with the custom Mountain Surf Limberdeck I got. It came in with the red ripcord which indicates bomber fit. I sent cockpit tracings of both my Acrobat & Viper. The Acrobat cockpit is a little smaller than the Viper so it's a little tougher to get it on the Viper.
The custom skirt that they made for my Big EZ conversion is the ez on fit & it's never blown.

It's OK...
NZMatt-as you recally MY Mountain surf skirt being "a little difficult" to get on the Viper (as in you helped me a few times) I'm happy to report that after using it a bit more I can get it on myself OK. Still a SUPER TIGHT, DRY fit, but at least I can get it on myself. Of course, I haven't tried this year yet, as I've been in other boats .
When you get it on be sure it's easy to come off. John Mason was very helpful in this respect-he said if I had trouble getting it on and wanted to send it back to be re-sized, that was up to me. But if it was hard to get on and hard to get off, he was adamint I send it back to be resized as it can be a safety issue.

Too Tight Skirt
I agree with Mike's suggestion - wetting a skirt makes it easier to get on. Also, although I have yet to try this myself, other boaters with tight skirts have said that storing their skirt on their boat makes it easier to get on when they get to the river, probably because it dries already stretched.
You might want to try that first before more drastic solutions.
