I thought I post a reminder here that we will have the Puntledge River Festival this weekend in Comox on Vancouver Island. I hope to see some
Vancouver C-Boaters there! (thats you Pat )
The Puntledge is a spectacular play and creek river that has everything from relaxing class 2 to hairy class 5 vertical madness. Come and play with us on the Puntledge!

Hey Larry, I just came back and --- well --- have to go paddling again.
After the paddle fest its Vancouver and then Whistler.
Lots of good stuff.
We paddled in the Yuba drainage. South Yuba was probably the best run of the trip. Neat granite.
We could not do any mulitdays because of lack of shuttle bunny Hopefully next time we'll have enough money for two cars.
Cheers, Jan

Hi Jan,
I am aware of the festival, e-mailed with Shayne, and received some e-mails through the Victoria club. In the end, this was a weekend that worked to go do some WA rivers with some friends and the Seattle club.
Becasue I've never been to a ww festival, don't know the Puntledge, and I'm only a class II-III OCer, I'm a little gun shy that its focus would be on hotshots and kayakers -- probably on hotshot kayakers.
If I knew that there would be events/clinics/attendance for/by lots of intermediate open-boaters, I may have gone, but I wasn't sure what I'd get. I'll look into it after the festival and try spreading the word for next year.
I wish there were some events organized by and for single-bladers.
Cheers, Pat.

Armada
Pat,
The Armada was awesome! There was 4 or 5 to 1 canoe OC1 or C1 to K1. The river was class II-III, so it was perfect for me and would be for you. I have never seen so many canoes anywhere.

Pat,
the Punt was awesome! We had a really good time with about 150 Kayakers and C-Boaters.
We had beginner clinics, advances clinics, rodeo instruction and
a session for those who want to catch air. (By James Mole and
Rob Cartwright).
The creeking was excellent, too. Nymph and Stotan Falls were definitely Highlights of the steep parts of the river with some very exciting lines and good carnage.
(Stotan has 2 15 feet vertical falls and a 35 feet rock slide in a row!)
There were many tandem and solo open canoes and a lot of C1 playboaters.
Too bad you missed it. You have to come next year.
Cheers, Jan
