The USA once again did quite well in the Junior C-1 ranks - Benn Fraker from Atlanta won the Junior World Championships just this past week. It's all up on Daveyhearn.com. I know Davey must be quite proud.
I really wish I was there racing with Benn, Davey and Chad, but I confined myself this past weekend to a short trip to the rivers of Quebec, including the almighty Le Taureau (for which the new boat was named). My favorite part of this river is the long, forced slow drive on bumpy dirt roads through the park de la Jacques-Cartier. It's definitely one of the few rivers I have done - so long, so demanding-yet-runnable, and so isolated - where you get to the end and just feel like a nice, long mellow drive out at 20 mph, watching moose beside you in the river, is exactly what you need. I used to have a boss who used to tell us (the landscaping crew) "Work fast, drive slow." After a day of bombing down mile after mile of tough rapids, it feels good to have to drive nice and slow.
