Ashlu Whitewater Festival 2005

This year, the Ashlu Whitewater Festival will be Aug 18-21.

The Ashlu is THE most beautiful river in BC, probably in Canada.
Plus you will find everything from Class 1 floats to 5+ steep creeking and everything inbetween in a single creek. It truly is a phantastic place.
Check it out. It most definitely is worth even a long drive.

Last year was the 1st annual, and had great reviews!!

This year the Whitewater Kayaking Assoc. has been working more closely with some canoe organizations, clubs, and retailers, etc.; as a result, the festival will now be more inclusive - offering more runs for (mortal) canoeists and even an intermediate clinic.

Skook will always be there. Whitewater festivals/events that include canoeists are hard to come by (at least on the westcoast).

Dude, if you like Skook, you should definitely go and check out
Okisolo tidal rapids. I've been there twice and it is truly impressive.
When its running full on, it is a massive green wave that crushes once in a while and tries to eat you.
Oh yeah, it's also not a very good idea to go in the hole to the side of the wave...first hand experience!

Well, I guess I'll have to go to the Ashlu festival next year. You convinced me but i made plans. Anyway, skook was awesome. There was the Prostar team, Teva. They showed up on the skook and gave a good show.

I never heard of the Okisolo rapid, have to check that out one day.
