which footwear w/ goretex booties

Post by Mike W. »

I've ordered a new dry-suit with gore-tex booties :D This is a 1st for me. My old suit has gaskets. What are folks recomending & NOT recomending to wear under & over the gore-tex booties. I want to be able to get out of the boat, stay warm, be able to walk on rocks & protect the gore-tex.

i just wear a light pair of wool socks on the inside, and either a pair of booties on the outside, or a pair of wool socks., but the outer ones have to be fairly small so that they are tight around the goretex sock. i do that or just have my chacos attached to my pilar, and throw them on when i get out. not too big of a deal, and my suit doesnt show much wear. besides, who can stand up right after theyve been in their c1 with a 6" saddle after an hour and a half.
cheers

C1, normal weather, light socks inside the suit and booties over top
C1, cold weather, I find two pairs of light socks better than a thicker pair. Of course, booties over top.

OC1, I exchange the booties for a harder soled shoe that I prefer wear and push against foot pegs in open boats.
