Anyone out there converted one? I'm looking at creekboats and found a good price on one. Does not having the pillars make conversion difficult?
thanks

Terrible choice - very narrow with that shallow V bottom = no stability. I conv. a Mountain 300 and it was awful. Cockpit all wrong also.

You asked, "Does not having the pillars make conversion difficult?" Yes, but remember that you want to have a creekboat which is made with strong plastic. Also, you may wish to store enough gear for a six day trip and no pillars make packing much easier.
Having said that, the old seat provides some strength to the cockpit area so I would do two things to regain that strength after removing the seat. First, the rear of your new saddle should extent under the rear of the cockpit rim and second, build a bulkhead that fits under the front of the cockpit rim. Both will add strength to the cockpit area and keep the decks from moving in case the decks get loaded with the force of the water.
hope you find the above info useful
