tri-hull design

under the C-1 race boats, the millbrook stinger has a description thats confused my for a while, it says a tri-hull similar to the estanguet but softened for easier padddling. anywho, what is a tri-hull, is there anyone who can provide a description of what the bottom of the hull looks like?

Since I still paddle one of these beasts, I'll chime in. The way I usually describe the Estanguet hull to someone who hasn't seen it is to say its like a long Wave Sport X (the Estanguet came first). The chines extend from about a 6" from the tip of the nose, to about 2" behind the cockpit. The stern is a "typical" displacement slalom type stern. If you imagine a 13 foot X, with chines from the nose to just behind the cockpit, you''ll have a pretty good idea. Hope this helps....edg

I think that the Estanguet was the original "rail" hull. There's a slightly convex center section, with rails extending down on each side. The profiles run from the bow back past the cockpit.
