Well, yesterday was the first day of the pool rolling season here in the nations capital and boy do I have a good story.

I pulled into the parking lot a little early and a guy with one of those new canadian open boats pulls in beside me. We both ask each other if we knew where we are supposed to go (this is a new pool). At that point he looks at my boat and says...."Wow ! That sure is a long boat", to which I give my time tested obligatory response..."Wow ! That sure is a short boat". Then the best line of the day. I take my boat of the car and lay it on the ground. He looks at the boat and says...."Wow ! You have it outfitted as a C-1".....I seethe a bit and then say "Actually, it is a C-1". I look over, and what I just said really isn't taking, so I just head for the pool. Turns out this guy had only been boating about two years. He also had been led to believe that the Galasport paddle he bought was made locally here in town. I asured him it was not, but I'm pretty sure he thinks I'm still paddlin a K-1 conversion and his paddle really is made someplace in DC.....maybe Davey's basement. And you guys thought I would never paddle a conversion....just goes to show you perception is in the eye of the perceiver....Paddle on Garth!!....DM
