What's the best kayak for a C1?
by AJ Pearse AJ Pearse
I love my open boat but would like to learn to play in all those holes a bit more than I can in my Outrage. I've paddled an Atom and a converted GTX. The Atom seemed heavy and the GTX seemed big all around. I've been doing class II/III water mostly with a little class IV in my Outrage. I'm 5'4" and weigh 126#. I would appreciate any suggestions.

good question

Hi
Í think there´s no easy answer. For me the Neckykayaks are all good for conversion because they are very stable and fast. For playing: (S)witch, Zip. It depends on your weight and style. the winner of the eurocup paddles a Switch and it´s a really nice boat. I use a Gliss for whitewater. I never felt as save in a boat as in the gliss(3 years i paddled an Atom).

Not sure how "hard core" you want to play but...

the XXX is a super nice boat. At 126 lbs it shouldn't be too edgy, I'm about 150 and its not a problem. Awesome playboat, good speed, and you can find a used one cheap. My vote is for the XXX.

I suggest you try to hook up with other C1ers (post wher your located) and try out their quiver of boats. Most single bladders welcome others to try out their boats.
The XXX is a good choice for play as are most smaller play boats you can pick up cheap.
Enjoy, let us know how it goes and CU!

Most of us are born with single bladders! Hahahahaha! I just couldn't resist. Thanks for being my eyes on that one drop on Sat. You called that line right on the money. Glad you got home safe n' sound Sat. night to your family.

That comes from looking over that water fall and thinking that just maybe Warren really wanted to really run it!!!
I saw that after I posted - opps! Forgive me single bladders every where!
As for that drop - I wish we had it on film. You had a sweet run. I just wish mine would have been as un-eventful! Oh well, next time.
Thanks for all the help, support and thinking for me when I had multiple brain cramps going on!
Tell the wife I said Hi and thanks too!

by Quico Reed Quico Reed
I paddle a Gliss but want a little bigger boat. The question posed by this guy seemed a good zsegue to my question.
But I outweigh that guy by 55+ pounds: 190+/- pounds.
So, by the way, the Gliss would be a great playboat/river runner for you. I paddle it at 190 lbs and it's at its LIMIT for carrying capacity. But it is fun on the river.
I need a bigger boat and want to convert a Jive. Just wondering if anyone knows if it has a wide enough cockpit for a c-1???
