storage

Post by billcanoes »

very true angie- I have 5 boats in my dining room (of course there is no table) and non are open canoes- those are kept 16 miles away in storage-

I think a big reason is time and peer pressure- Accomplished kayakers can I think easily pick up a canoe roll- However, I think the canoe roll is much harder to learn than the kayak roll- so someone can learn the kayak roll and jump right into class 3-4 rivers with their more experienced friends- with little time invested.

plus I think that there would be little incentive for a kayaker to cross over, if they hear haha you need a training paddle-

though I think a finesse in a canoe looks more graceful-

finally -the biggest advantage of our small niche is that I feel overall we are more supportive/more willing to loan boats etc... to visiting paddlers- and/or on the river-

it's awesome most canoeist you meet on the river are very eager to let you try their boats- I think David, ncdavid must have had 10 demos in his millbrook defiant every time he paddled it on the Nanty-
Hopefully, there will be more kayak to canoe conversions through showing skill and kindness- Hopefully, in a few more years- I'll be able to help with the skilled part.

MORE OC-1's in CO then ever!!!!!

Post by Remoteproductions »

I don't know where they're all coming from, but I've noticed more open boats this year in CO then I've ever seen before. Unfortunately I'm out w/ a back injury and unable to play. Instead I'm trying to compile OC creeking and big water videos from people to edit into a film. If anyone in CO is going out for some crazy creeking, let me know. I'll tag along to shoot. Also if anyone has any good footage from anywhere, please send it to

I think the big selling point of a canoe is the amount of gear you can carry. Think how cool you would be pulling into the eddy with your stereo blaring the soundtrack to the cool video you have playing on the plasma screens mounted to your bow and stern - then offering everyone in the eddy a cold drink and a warm snack from your onboard kitchen.

If you want the younger generation to embrace open canoeing, you just need to say the following words:

"Please MTV, pimp my canoe"

Then will Robson come out with a campaign to "unpimp your boat"?

(A reference to the VW "unpimp your ride commercials :

perhaps the best commercials ever)
