Had an adventure on the Toxaway the other day. Every rapid I got to was the biggest rapid I have ever run, and it continued that way the whole way down the river. It was my second run down, but the first time I actually got to run the big rapids because the first time the water was past "bankfull capacity." I was hesitant about only having a one sided brace and flying at 50mph down steep, bouncy slides but it was about the most fun I've ever had in a boat. Definatly out of control, but then again, there isn't much control to be had. Wish I had some pics to share, but I didn't want to bring the camera cause I didn't want to carry it and I didn't want it getting bashed into smitherines. Definatly an epic day, lots of Class X portages which were scarier than the rapids and a stout 4 mile hike out. I recommend this run if you want to scare yourself and have fun, with a 2-3 adrenaline rush to boot.

Will, it's awesome to see c-boaters getting it done. Sweet.
There is nothing like the feeling of being completely committed on a steep run. I think that's the reason why I always want to go boating.

Is there something like an expert kayaker?

The toxaway is about as remote as you can get in the southeast I'd say. Not really feasable to hike out any way except along the river, and that is a challenge. I love it, I need to come to BC so I can get some more of this!
We ran everything except I walked Energizer because everyone was getting either flipped left or had to throw a hard left brace to avoid it becuase of a flake on the right side. I didn't want to be upside down in that asscrack. Ran everything else though except 40/40. I think Landbridge and Wintergreen drop the total gradient of the Green in about 150 yards!

Remote in the southeast? Ugh... that brings up images of banjos, and men squealin' like pigs.... but all joking aside, that movie with burt reynolds was pretty inspiring from a WW perspective! Put that other Aluminum canoe vid we all saw recently to shame.
Would love to see some pix of the toxicwaste river! Sound s fun...

wow, that's impressive. lots of big rapids you guys ran. Wintergreen looks enormous. What is 40/40 anyway? I don't think I've even seen video of it? I'm guessing it's two 40 foot waterfalls back-to-back?
