IQ gunwales on outrage x

Have a new Outrage X with IQ2 gunwales. Mikey's outfitting is on the way. Anyone have an opinion on the lash down kit from Mad River for IQ vs. standard pop rivet or holes drilled through hull for flotaion cages?

My opinion is that you should drill through the hull. Almost any means of attaching to the gunwales is going to weaken them.

When I demoed a n Outrage with the IQ system and bag cage system that slides into the IQ gunnel a few years ago the issue I had was dumping water from the boat. You slide the "bag cage" all the way down the fore and aft <front> so water cannot roll out oer the gunnel. They mayhave mogdified it since it came out.
Bottom line -I would drill thru hull also.
